The world in black & white, 1975 - 2008
I was a college student in 1975 when I took the photo of my grandmother, which starts this slideshow. I was studying photography at the University of Nebraska with George Tuck, who would become my mentor and friend. I was at the UN-L for three years before transferring to RIT in Rochester, New York, one of two photography schools that I knew of at the time. I applied to both RIT and Brooks Institute, in Santa Barbara, but got accepted first at RIT, so I went east instead of west and my life unfolded.
The photographs here cover the story of my travels between 1975 - 2008. All of these photos were shot with black & white film, mostly with Kodak's TriX400. They cover eight states and 15 countries.
I made the transition to digital in 2008, when I was in Peru and my Leica lens focusing ring broke. I was forced to use my digital camera and I've been using one ever since.
