The Julia Dean Photo Workshops

FAQs

I’m new to photography, where do I start?

We have classes designed to help you get started and make sure you have a solid foundation with the fundamentals of photography.  The classes will give you the ability to take control of your camera instead of the camera making decisions for you.

~How to Use a Digital Camera: SLR A one-day course loaded with information on how to use Digital SLR cameras.
~Basic Photography 1: The Fundamentals: Designed for beginners. 6-weeks of in-depth study to learn all the controls and functions on the camera, how to use them, and how to control the photograph’s final look.

If you wish to continue your learning experience you may also wish consider:

~Basic Photography 2: Diving into Digital
~Basic Photography 3: From Image Enhancement to Print

What kind of camera and/or other accessories do I need to take classes?

Most of our classes require that you have your own Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera with at least one lens. The reason for this is that DSLR’s allow you to have the most control over your photography as opposed to “point and shoot” cameras which, as the name implies, do most of the decision making for you.  If you have a question about your camera or what camera to consider please feel free to contact us. 323-464-0909

Peripherals: 4GB memory card (one or more no bigger), card reader, UV filter

Other classes will specify camera type

We currently do not rent or loan cameras. However, if you’re interested in renting camera equipment, we recommend PRS at 12306 Exposition Blvd., phone: 310-979-8173.
