Great work. Especially for the photographs....yes. But also because the work and the story together reveal that the things that motivate humans deeply are often buried so deep, they are far from our consciousness.

Dear Julia,

Wonderful. It may be that you do lunch counters and break times best. Looking forward to seeing your work at the Smithsonian portrait gallery one day. It would not surprise me. Want to see the captions, to know where these all were taken. And would be so nice to see a few of the photographer at work...when you get a minute sometime.

With admiration and respect,
Diane

Hey Christopher,

Great Job, I believe you are on to something with the questions, because I read a story about a little old lady who had just recently lost her son from a drug dealer who had shot him by accident. The drug dealer went to prison, and she went to visit him everyday for two months to ask him questions of why? Two months later she decided to forgive him because through her questioning she felt that he was lost, and that he needed someone to forgive him for all the wrong that he did. She said she did for her one and only son, that his death would not be lost in vain. Believe me, there are very few who could do this, but she kept visiting him in jail for seven years until he was finally released, and than later she took him into her home, and continued to speak with him until 3 more years later. During that period , he finished high school, and then later graduated from a technical school where he ultimately became an Electrician. Now he is married with two kids, and is doing very well at his life! When asked what turned him around, he said it was the long talks and questions that this little old lady kept asking him. She was tenacious as hell he said! She made me remember the lives I took, and she made me reflect on my own misdeeds. She showed me that someone could care for such a wretch like me with her love and questions. It simply lighted my way to a better me, and a better life.

I have never forgotten this story because I think your questions showed love for someone else, like this little old lady. She said it was love of her son that made her forgive, and get involved with someone who was so lost! " I am only 5 feet one, and Joe is six four. He towers over me, and could crush me with one of his small rage spells she says, but It was love of my son that ultimately turned him around! What a great story, and what a great thing you have done Christopher. I think more of us need to ask questions at a time when so many are lost, and just need someone to believe in them, and not just cast them aside as forgotten people! Thank you for getting involved!
