Whether you travel to take great pictures, bring back wonderful photos, send that perfect postcard, or aspire to go beyond the common view, learn planning strategies that will help you return with treasured memories. Discover how to do research before you get on the plane or head out on the road. Where do you want to go? How do you best determine what are the must-see places?  What's the best time of year to visit and is there a specific time of day to be there? Through learning how to select the best travel guides and researching on the web, Mark Harmel will demonstrate how to find the most photogenic locations for your next trip. He will also discuss what equipment to take and the logistics of shooting either digital or film on the road.

We all have planning disasters and successes, bring two photos from your last trips that represent one of each. Bring your pen and paper and come loaded with questions on how to plan your next trip!

Mark Harmel's (www.harmelphoto.com) images span a wide range of subjects from nature to people. His work has been used by companies like Abbott Diabetes Care, Wells Fargo, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Warner Brothers, Time, Blue Cross, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and Sony. He has also been featured in the Communication Arts Photography Annual. “At heart, I’m still basically a street photographer that has evolved to understand and follow great light,” says Harmel. “So these days, even in more controlled environments, I look for the good light first, and if it’s not there, I make it happen.” Currently, he spends much of his time concentrating on healthcare photography and worked with his wife, Dr. Anne Peters, a physician specializing in diabetes, to create a best-selling book on the disease. Mark's stock photography is available through Getty Images, Workbookstock.com and Alamy.
