The Short-Term Book Project

When creating a body of work, a photographer creates a deep, personal connection to their project. A story is being told. But how does one tell that story to the rest of the world? How can the images be shared? One such method to showcase your work is by self-publishing a photography book. In this workshop, participants will learn two things: how to develop an effective, powerful short-term project and how to design a book to showcase the work. Workshop participants will shoot a new project throughout the workshop’s duration or pull work from an existing library. On the first night, discussions will include how to come up with project ideas, how to work on a project, how to edit the work, and how to sequence and design the work in book form. The second evening will be spent demonstrating the book software program, provided to us by A&I Photographic and Digital Services. Each session will also be spent critiquing the participants’ work, discussing design ideas, editing, and laying out each book. By the end of the workshop, each participant will have at least one finished self-published book. (The books will be published with a discount at A&I Photographic and Digital Services.)
