Expanding Photography in Southern California

The Poetry of Infrared

Stephen Schafer

Learn how to pre-visualize infrared (IR) light and gain an understanding of IR's ability to change the invisible world into bold and nostalgic artworks! Both film and digital photographers will discover the truly unique properties that give IR light the ability to render scenes in strikingly beautiful and dreamlike ways. We begin by discussing techniques, equipment, and the tricks of the trade. Technical topics will include: New and old Infrared films, IR focus, exposure, film development, printing and hand-coloring considerations, and which cameras and lenses take the best infrared pictures. An extensive question and answer period will follow. Bring your 35mm film SLR camera or an infrared modified digital for a hands-on demo.
