This six-week workshop is designed for those interested in creating insightful portraits of people in their environments, whether the portrait is of a family member, someone in a corporate office, or someone on the street. Each week brings a different professional photographer to class to show his or her work. After discussing their work and style, the guest photographer will then provide a specific assignment that relates to their own style. The following week, the next guest will critique the previous week’s assignment. All guests will discuss ways to approach people, how to build relationships, and how to capture the essence of the subject’s world. Discussions will also include ethics and responsibilities, light and composition, color and contrast, equipment choices, how to use portable light sources, and when to use filters.
