This Basic Photography course, developed especially for teens, will introduce students to the controls and functions of their digital or film Single Lens Reflex (SLR) camera.  Students will work towards capturing what they seek in their images through an understanding of technical components such as exposure, aperture and shutter speeds.  Composition and design elements will also be explored.  In addition, workshop participants will be introduced to a variety of photographic genres through viewing work of photographic professionals.  After daily technical, composition and genre lectures students will experience multiple opportunities to try out their new shooting skills within the summer scene at the Venice Beach boardwalk.

Photographer and Arts Educator, Amanda Keller-Konya (www.amandakellerkonya.com) received her BFA from California Institute of the Arts and her MA from California State University, Northridge.
